**FREQUINOX**

The FREQUINOX is not just a band; it is a super group of musicians. Born of the concept that in combining members from the “best of the best” of the West-Coast’s Soul-Jazz Boogaloo bands with those of the “best of the best” from New Orleans to form a Super group so damn funky and exceptional that it would be the cause of an out-and-out, general freak-out for those that witness this sensational group!

Donald Harrison

Having recorded with the Headhunter, this sax player from NOLA is a true legend. He also combined jazz with Afro-New Orleans traditional music on his critically acclaimed and influential albums “Indian Blues” in 1991 and “Spirits of Congo Square” in 2000.

Stanton Moore

Born and raised in New Orleans, Stanton Moore is a dedicated drummer and performer especially connected to the city, its culture and collaborative spirit. Driven and inspired by the thriving music scene of his hometown which includes such greats as Professor Longhair, Doctor John and The Meters, Moore’s name is now mentioned amongst these Big Easy mainstays.

Robert Mercurio

New Orleans local, and founder of Galactic, this bassist knows how to get groovy. Mercurio has been performing in the funk scene for decades, and never falls short of bringing his unique sound to the table.

Robert Walter

Robert Walter performs all his own stunts. For 20 years, the San Diego native has been pulling drawbars and pushing the limits of the Hammond B3 organ. Walter helped form the the Greyboy Allstars in 1993 with Karl Denson, Elgin Park, Chris Stillwell, Zak Najor, and DJ Greyboy. Influenced by soul-jazz and funk records from the 1960s and 70s, the band juxtaposed jazz improvisation and dance music.

Will Bernard

Grammy nominated guitarist Will Bernard, a Berkeley, CA native and Brooklyn NY transplant studied guitar and piano from an early age with Dave Creamer, Art Lande and Julian White later developing and interest in classical music composition. Since then, Bernard has participated in a host of boundary stretching groups, ranging from jazz, hip-hop and world music to experimental music, with many stops in between.

EDDIE ROBERTS

Eddie started his music career proper in 1989 aged 18, having left his Welsh homeland to study Jazz at Leeds College of Music. More interested in live performing and getting his own thing going than in college work, he quickly rooted out the best players in town and set up his first band, The Jazz Mailmen, dedicated to playing the golden era of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. After transcribing all the parts and enforcing a dress code of Bop suits, he set about taking the UK Jazz Dance scene by storm. During this time British Hard Bop legend Tommy Chase asked him to relocate and join his band, but Eddie had other ideas......Around 1991 Eddie's love for Grant Green inspired him to put a Hammond-based line up together. With the sound of Big John Patton, Lou Donaldson and Ivan Boogaloo, his band The Eddie Roberts Organisation toured UK and managed to get its first European dates at the 'Queen's Birthday Celebrations' in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

CONGO SANCHEZ

Congo's time as the drummer for Thievery Corporation has clearly had an effect on his ear as he continues to explore the down-tempo, reggae mezcla, with an obvious hip-hop overtone to the composition. Listeners of 'Dealin With This' will hear an array of sounds and rhythms, paying homage to the roots of music with thick layers of percussion; signature to the Congo Sanchez sound. All of this accompanied by a conscious message and an authentic lyrical approach creates a superb listening experience.

JERMAL WATSON

Jermal Watson is a native of New Orleans and like so many musicians there, got his musical start playing in church. Growing up in New Orleans, he explains, young musicians learn songs and styles by ear and by the time you’re grown, all of the city’s musical languages – the swing feel of Preservation Hall, the street beats of the brass bands, the funk of The Meters and The Neville Brothers – are languages you just know. As a young drummer, Jermal was brought along on the scene by two of its elder statesmen, Russell Batiste and Gerald French and for decades now, he has been among The Crescent City’s first-call drummers. His resume includes The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Eddie Roberts, and many more. For the past two years, he has also headed a percussion program at Encore Academy, in which almost 90 elementary school students participate.

CHRIS SPIES

New Orleans' own Chris Spies will be sure to take the keys to a new level. Always bringing the FUNK, this Honey Island Swamp Band key player is bound to make this show epic.

CHRIS STILLWELL

Chris Stillwell is the American bassist for the band The Greyboy Allstars. Stillwell's family moved to San Diego when Chris was about six months old. He stole his first guitar from his older sister's closet at a young age, and has been a founder of the West Coast Boogaloo since then.

NICK GERLACH

Saxophonist of the midwest's favorite livetronica band, Turbo Suit, Nick Gerlach has been making crowds dance since their launch in 2012. They’ve been touring nationally and have shared the stage with some amazing acts. Turbo Suit has performed at a plethora of top national festivals and you can frequently catch them hosting special guest, adding just another angle to their live show.
